Venice is definitely an extremely beautiful city to visit and if possible a must for everybody. I would think that the off season would be the most spectacular and enjoyable time to visit. Piazza San Marco is a fine example, where even in October navigating through the hordes of tourists and flocks of pigeons at times is not even possible.

One of the lesser known places in Venice and worth visiting is the Venetian Ghetto. Established in 1516 to place restrictions on Jewish movement within the city, this became Europe’s first ghetto. Also, this is the origins of the word ‘ghetto’.

My five days in Venice resulted in a surplus of canal and gondola photos. The images were meant to to accompany my Biennale post, but I only now got around to putting them together. They’re all posted on flickr.
